The XM780A1 Safe and Arm (S&A)
Assembly is used in impact sensing
120mm high explosive tank ammunition. The XM780A1
provides arming
safety and is the initiation means for the tank ammunition
explosive train.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
We were awarded a contract with Alliant
Techsystems to manufacture the first
assemblies in 2001.
The XM780A1
uses an interrupted explosive train and is held in
the safe position by
two independent safety locks. The firing
event setback acceleration removes the
first mechanical S&A safety lock and an electrical
signal that releases the second environmental lock.
An interlock feature forces the S&A
into a safe position in the event of improper
arming sequences. |
