KDI Precision Products, Inc. possesses
an outstanding capability in the design,
development, and manufacture of precision mechanical and
electromechanical
Safety & Arming (S&A) mechanisms and timing devices.
This capability is a
direct result of KDI’s experience with fuzes and
safety & arming devices for missiles,
projectiles, and bombs employed by the U.S. Armed Forces
and its Allies.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
FMU-143 B/B Bomb Fuze is an
electro-mechanical impact delay
fuzing system developed for use by
the Air Force in the BLU-109 and
BLU-113 penetration guided or
unguided high-explosive bombs.
The fuzing system meets all
U.S. & NATO Navy and Air Force
requirements, including the safety criteria of MIL-STD-1316.
The FMU-143 B/B fuze is
compatible with most U. S. Air Force and NATO Aircraft.
All arming functions and fuzing
modes are contained in a single fuze.
KDI is under contract to produce an initial order in
excess of 8,000 FMU-143 B/B Fuze Systems,
including the FZU-32 B/B wind turbine generator for the
U. S. Air Force. KDI also received an
additional effort to improve the rotor assembly.
The fuzing system consists of a cylindrical fuze and
an additional charging well generator
(FZU-32 B/B), cable assembly, and lanyards are provided.
Key features of the FMU-143 B/B
design include ease of installation and preparation for
flight and the ability to set manually
the arming times prior to take-off.
The FMU-143 B/B
has passed the appropriate environmental tests of MIL-STD-331
and MIL-STD-810. |
